From the non-scientific Adansonia digitata, the baobab in Fon Kpassa is found in Africa, Madagascar, the Indian Ocean Islands, Australia and the Caribbean. It is rich in protein, lipids, carbohydrates, mucilage, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C, essential amino acids and minerals including sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), potassium (K) and iron (Fe). It also contains flavonoids and phenolic acids. It is an antioxidant and inhibitor of enzymatic activity, anti-carcinogenic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, antisickling, antibacterial, antidiabetic, antirheumatic, antitrypanosome, arthritic, antioxidant, antiviral, analgesic, antipyretic, diuretic and hepatoprotective, onifiant/stimulant, antidiarrheal, antienteralgic, antipyretic, Its extracts are effective against fatigue, inappetence, diarrhea, enteralgia, nasopharyngeal infection, circulatory disorders (hemorrhoids), hemoptysis, insect bites and dermatitis. It plays a symbolic and ritual role in the mysticism of health and the quest for fertility.
