Banking Online, Made Simple: Bills, Payments and Peace of Mind for Seniors: The Large-Print, Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners Over 60 to Paying People
The branch closed, or the queue got too long, and now paying a bill or checking a balance means opening an app that offers no obvious explanation of what any of its buttons actually do. At the same time, online banking is exactly where scammers concentrate their effort, using calls and messages built to sound like the bank itself. Learning to use the app with confidence and learning to spot when a call is not really the bank are two halves of the same problem, and this book covers both.
Inside this book:
Set up the app, the login and the codes, and understand what each one protects Pay a person, using the name-checking prompt banks now show before money leaves Pay a bill, and understand the direct debits and standing orders that pay themselves Freeze a card in seconds instead of waiting on hold Find exactly what has left the account, and read a statement properly Recognise the bank-impersonation call, the remote-access request and the safe-account trick Know precisely who to ring and what to say in the first hour if something goes wrong Help someone else with their banking without taking it over Build a simple monthly routine that keeps the whole account under control
The type is set in a genuinely large, 14.5-point size, every change is taught alongside how to undo it, and nothing is left in jargon without a plain explanation. It is written for an adult who would rather understand the system than be told to trust it.
Written to leave you confident with the app itself, and clear about the one habit that stops most scams before they start.
