They were marching under the watch full eyes of some German soldiers carrying bayonet attached rifles." At the age of 16, István was gripped by revolutionary fever, just like a whole generation of young Hungarians. They rebelled against the injustices of the Communist occupation, where spying and punishments were the order of the day, where queuing for hours in front of stores was part of everyday life: "You didn't have to do anything if you were accused of any mischief, you were done. It wasn't that you were innocent till proven guilty you were guilty till proven innocent! But how could you prove you're innocent when you were locked up?" It was a rainy gray early October morning, -Tuesday October 23, 1956- when his mom with tears in her eyes said, the Revolution had erupted in Budapest! From one day to the next, his life changes dramatically, he has to make painful decisions and undergo bitter experiences that he could never have imagined.
