Bain Rock

By J. Cabral-Jackson

Book Overview

Bain Rock is an 80s fantasy set against an oppressive militia regime, found family and a sweet sapphic romance.

June, 1984. The militia regime has outlawed all magic in the island of Inea. As war brews between the Council of Witches and Dissenters, a suspicious fire forces Emma into hiding. A descendant of nineteen bloodlines of witches, Emma has yet to manifest any powers but sets out to rescue her last living relative. She meets Nor, the daughter of a sworn enemy and prominent Dissenter and the last person Emma expects to fall for.

Emma has to navigate treacherous alliances and learn who to trust as she encounters the Keepers and the new cult of The Ziggurat. As the island's entire future hangs in the balance, Emma uncovers a secret which threatens everything she knew about herself.
