Scattered clues, some perceived as such by Hugh s eccentric father, he hid, not expecting to have need to be absent from his responsibilities. Hugh in Ballater and Hide in Bordeaux, a thousand miles apart, separately find clues before meeting in Ballater to gain some control over these matters. This is the middle part of a trilogy; other books take the characters between 1940-58 and post 1958.
