Book Overview

In this national bestseller and basis for the smash hit movie starring Paula Patton, Baggage Claim is the story of one woman who decides that she's done flying solo.

Heralded by the press and millions of theatergoers for his eleven wildly popular musical stage plays, five-time NAACP award-winning playwright David E. Talbert leaps onto the publishing scene with his debut novel, a big-hearted story about friendship, family, and the relentless pursuit of love.

Baggage Claim gives you a first-class peek into the wacky world of Montana Moore, a thirty-five-year-old flight attendant with enough baggage from her past relationships to fill an entire Samsonite showroom. Montana is an incurable romantic. A dreamer. The kind of woman who has her head in the clouds while her heart splatters swiftly to the ground.

With her mother having just tied the knot for a record-breaking fourth time and her baby sister, Sheree, rushing to jump the broom, five-time maid of honor Montana is dangerously close to becoming not only the oldest, but the only woman in her entire family never to be married.

Having convinced herself that there's no way in heaven or hell she's showing up at her sister's Christmas Eve engagement party without a prospect of her own, Montana concocts her wildest and most romantically ridiculous plan yet: a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile trek in search of a husband.

Will it be Damon Diesel, a young hip-hop producer whose motto is "Making the green scream and the dolla holla "? Or will she win over the Reverend Curtis P. Merewether, pastor and founder of Greater House of Deliverance, Tabernacle of Praise, Worship, and Miracles? Of course Langston Jefferson Battle III, superattorney turned city councilman, needs a wife now that his sights are set on the United States Congress. Or perhaps her lifelong mate is Quinton Jamison, a multimillionaire textile guru twenty years her senior. Only time--or the lack of it--will tell.
Fasten your seat belts, lift your tray tables up, and prepare for takeoff. Our final destination: the Altar.

Hilarious

This book was so funny. I found myself laughing out loud and looking around to see who heard or saw me, because I was truly into the story and forgot where I was. The characters were written so vividly. I could see this as a movie.

Always on the move

Montana Moore was always on the move, trying to find that person that would walk down the aisle with her. She logged in more time on the airplane aisle than down the church aisle. Always the bridesmaid but never the bride. I loved her relationship between her and her friend Sam. Also, the conversations between Sam and Gail will just keep you laughing. Never a dull moment between those two. This book is a fast read and very entertaining.

Outstanding

This is an Excellent book! The charactors came to life, this book will have you laughing out loud! a must buy.

Nice transition from Gospel Plays

Meet Montana Moore, the heroine of BAGGAGE CLAIM. She is a 35-year old airline stewardess who has been jinxed by the Moore Family Curse. She is over 25 without a husband and not one prospect. The pressure really builds when her younger sister Sheree announces her engagement. If Sheree gets married Montana will be the last "single Moore woman" alive. Montana decides to take things into her own hands and with the help of her friends embarks on a 20 day, 8 hour 30 minute journey to find Mr. Right. After a total makeover she is ready to rendezvous with the five eligible "husband's" chosen from her black book. From her first date to her last we get some of the greatest laughs. From hiding from a crazy booty call to not being chaste enough to be a First Lady, Montana shows us just how far some women have to go to get a man. BAGGAGE CLAIM, does a lot more than entertain you. It makes you really realize what is and isn't important in life. You are going to meet some unforgettable characters that will teach you some of life's most important lessons. Upbeat romantic comedy

Her mom is a serial spouse always married though her number of husbands requires a data base to keep score. Her thirty five year old daughter airline stewardess Montana Moore has never been married though she is beautiful and perky. Unlike her mother who finds positive qualities in any man, Montana classifies men in accordance with types of luggage. Her best friend William and flight buds Rabelaisian and Sam thinks Montana needs to drop her genre system and find a man in time to show off a fiancé at her youngest sister's engagement party. Montana has several potential mates to consider: a successful realtor; a hip hop record producer; a fiery preacher; an attorney, and zillionaire older guy. All carry excess baggage in Montana's mind so she claims none as a possible spouse. However, the right bag is closer to home than she realizes if she can only see.Fans of lighthearted romantic romps will appreciate the amusing BAGGAGE CLAIM that is at its best satirizing other novels. The story line is fun, but inane as Montana soars the friendly skies seeking a life mate. Her helpers and her family are even more absurd than her. Readers needing some escapist fluff will enjoy David Talbert's lighter than air novel.Harriet Klausner
