One of the best cliffhangers yet.

Let me pose a question, how long has it been since Francine Pascal has hung out in New York City? I ask this because of something that has irked me in the series, in particular in Fearless #13. Sam Moon, the apple of Gaia's eye --- or perhaps we should say the cruller in her Krispie Kreme box --- fantasizes that he and G could one day share a "cheap one bedroom in the East Village." As a current New Yorker, let me just say that such an apartment does not exist. If it did I'd be living there. I've noticed quite a bit of this Alphabet City bashing, and although years ago it was considered rather seedy, it is now lined with boutiques, bars, and restaurants. Having vented my Manhattan-centric complaint, I will move on. BAD, the 13th book of Pascal's latest blonde heroine series, takes a new and unexpected turn --- Gaia is happy. You remember Gaia, the girl born without the fear gene and whose mother was shot in front of her, not to mention her best friend, and most recently, her foster mother. Why is Gaia happy? It all comes down to a boy of course, a certain cruller of a boy. After reaching across miles of misunderstandings, evil conniving, and heaps of bad luck, Gaia and Sam are finally a couple. Knowing the series --- this is not Sweet Valley --- I'm sure their trouble is far from over, but for a few blissful moments Gaia can actually be a normal teenage girl and get all tingly about making out with her crush. Before the two hormonally charged teens can get too chummy, new problems arise. Sam's friend Mike, whom Ella injected with dangerous amounts of heroin, is hanging on precariously in the hospital; and Loki, Gaia's evil uncle --- her father's twin --- who she thinks is actually a decent guy named Oliver, is scheming to get Gaia to come with him to Germany. In the meantime, Gaia's over-stressed father defies CIA orders and races around the city trying to protect his daughter. The final chapter of this harrowing story is one of the best cliffhangers yet --- is the man Gaia gets on the plane with Loki, or her father disguising himself as Loki? I have my theories, but you'll have to read the book to come up with your own. Despite the rather lame side story about Gaia's friend Ed and ultra annoying diva Heather, this latest Fearless book has potential to bring the series to an exciting climax. Just don't believe all the hype about NYC. --- Reviewed by Dakota King

pascal does it again

gaia is finally happy. she and sam are finally a couple. the only cloud hanging over this happy arrangement is that her uncle wants her to go to europe with him and will stoop to all levels to get what he wants. what is poor gaia supposed to do? her stepmother ella died in her place, she thinks her father is the devil incarnate because ella said that he killed her mother, so is our poor heroine supposed to have any type of a happy normal life? or is it going to be one disappointment after another? stay tuned. this series has more plot twist than any book or series i have ever read. more to come same bat channel same battime. could not resist

Hate the cover, love the story

Gaia finally has everything she's always wanted. She has Sam. She has friends. SHe dosen't have to spend her night beating up pick pocketers (all the time that is.) She has familly. She has a way out of New York. So why is everything so complicated for her? Now that Loki's takign matters into his own hand he's connecting to Gaia quickly then everyone else has. And Gaia has no idea what the truth about him is. Will she be fooled and risk her happiness for a liar? Once again Francine Pascal delievers a great new additon to the series. THough I think she really should have stuck with the old covers, or at least picked a better one, it's what's on the inside of it that counts. I can't wait until the next book. I can tell something big is going to happen.

Excellant continuation of the Fearless series.

Finally, after all the pain, violence, death, and grief of the past few months, Gaia Moore has finally found some peace. She and Sam are together at last, and she has discovered Oliver, the uncle she never knew she had. Oliver has even offered to take Gaia to live with him in Europe - but now that she's finally happy in New York, she's not sure she wants to accept the offer. Little does Gaia know that Oliver's offer is part of a larger, twisted scheme orchestrated by his true self, Loki - the man who unknown to Gaia has caused every bad thing that has happened to her ever since she moved to New York. And if she isn't careful, Gaia will fall right into Loki's trap - a trap she may never be able to escape. Although Gaia's ignorance frustrated me throughout the entire book, I would still highly reccomend this to all fans of the series. It's going to be torture waiting until March for the next book, Missing.

Thirteen is a very good number

i loved this book. Mainly because Sam and Gaia are FINALLYtogether. They are so in love it makes people wonder if their lovecould ever compare then you realize it is just a book. I waswondering why Gaia automatically thought that Loki was her father. Iguess people don't want to question things that they think areright. Sam and Gaia are just so perfect together. I just hope nothinggoes horribly bad for them. Of course something bad is going to happeni just hope it is something that will drive them apart.
