It's almost 2018 yet Hollywood is still an old-boys club treating all women like second-class citizens. Screen Junkie's and Fandango Host and pundit, Alicia's Malone, pulls back the curtain in this call-to-action truth teller Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Emmy Rossum, Jessica Chastain and Lena Dunham are only a few of the thousands of women in the film industry being discriminated against for their gender. The pay-gap in Hollywood is only part of the problem.
I was really excited about reading this book because I am a fan of Alicia Malone and I am a classic film aficionado myself. I was particularly surprised to find out who suggested Hattie McDaniel for her role in Gone With the Wind. The first half of the book was interesting up to and including the 1950s. After that I just skimmed it over as it didn't entice me to read the rest of it. Normally, I would complain that four complete pages of that area had been torn out prior to my purchase, but since I didn't really care, I didn't report it. I didn't want to risk losing my free book.
