Backstage is a hilarious look at a small community theatre attempting to put on a Canadian play. There is Mitch, the play's producer who knows nothing about plays but a lot about selling cars. There is Gabrielle, the incredibly vague director. There are the jaded older actresses who try to sabotage the star of the show, a sweet ingenue appearing in her first play. There is the militant stage manager and the hapless assistant stage manager who at one point is thrust onstage when things start to go wrong.There is the dead body that can't quite stay dead and there is the young actress who is scammed into thinking she has a legitimate agent. And finally a sled dog team made up of dachshunds shows us that no matter what goes wrong back stage you have to have a well-developed sense of humour. Its the only way to survive.
