puppet brings major anticipation

This is by far my 1 year old daughter's favorite book. The holes revealing the next page are perfect to encourage little fingers to turn the page. And she'll search through piles of books to find the shiny bubble cover. It was also one of my son's favorite books. Now at 3 years old he loves to work the finger puppet at the end to make his sister laugh. I highly recommend this book and have bought copies for friends. I'm even considering a second copy for myself to have for grandkids (talk about planning ahead!)

the puppet cracks up my 9-month old

this was the first book that my daugher really paid attention to. the first time we read it together, we ended up reading it several times (as opposed to getting through 2 pages and then eating the book which had been the norm). the textures are shiny bubbles, a sponge, bumpy shower drops, a soft towel and (the grand finale) a built-in puppet that gets big laughs from my baby. the other neat thing is the peek holes ("what's next?") that allow you to glimpse the texture coming on the next spread. i'm now searching for another touch and feel book that is as cool as this one, but haven't seen any that seem as fun. i can't speak for its durability, but it looks sturdy. my daughter loves the puppet so much that she may end up destroying it somehow, but so far i have no complaints along those lines. i'd definitely recommend it!

Fun book, but not too durable

This is one of the first books I bought my daughter because it was a touch and feel book that encouraged play (vs. pieces of fabric glued to the pages). She really likes the book and never gets tired playing with it. The squeaky ball and the phone are her favorite. Each scene has a four line rhyme which parents may get sick of reading over and over. All of that said, two of the scenes can be destroyed rather quickly by a curious baby. The snail lost his shell in about 5 minutes and there is a little tab on the phone that got ripped off. She thoroughly enjoyed pulling the pictures apart, and it didn't ruin the book. Now she likes to pick at the holes she's made. The sticky hand at the end of the book, which is really sticky when the book is new, collects all kinds of hair, lint, and other assorted debris. It doesn't bother her at all, and her hand still sticks enough that it is fun for her.I recommend this book (and I'm sure my daughter does too), but be prepared for some mild destruction.
