For ages 3-8 yrs. This story is designed to get your children to sleep at bedtime. It uses a number of established techniques such as repeated melodic phrases (read in hushed, gentle tones), characters that yawn (studies have shown this to be contagious especially with children) and the occasional sound that is similar to "white noise" (like a waterfall or radio interference) which is widely used as a sleep aid for babies and likened to sounds experienced in the womb. Diversion is also used with words outside of a young child's vocabulary which can encourage the mind to drift. These techniques are used in all Baby Edward stories and are delivered with a structure that has been carefully honed over time. In this adventure the elephants are playing in a muddy pit having all sorts of messy fun, but Edward becomes stuck and the other elephant's attempts to free him don't go to plan.. Soon there are two elephants stuck in the ookie gookie stuff -who will be able to free them? Children are drawn in to the rhythmic and melodic nature of the story, and as events unfold so do the tricks mentioned above to lull the listener to sleep. Always start at the beginning of the story and if all goes to plan, you won't reach the end. (Check the audio version for a more immersive bedtime experience).
