Babbling of a Barbarian

Aptly named 'Babbling of a Barbarian', it is manic like her underlying disability, where poetry lives in silence.

She is a new author researching nonfiction titles on history, but she loves poetry and puts her mania on paper.

She lived in Baku, Azerbaijan, until she was in her late teens, then she moved to Glasgow to study history at university. She still lives in Scotland with her two children, two dogs and her long-suffering husband (who is her biggest support).

She sincerely believes her biggest critic is herself, and that nothing is perfect.

'Babbling of a Barbarian' reflects on periods of insanity, when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 21. Many poems within were written during periods of 'highs' and 'lows'.

It is a personal journey, one she understands does not fit the broader criteria of poetry. However, she feels that with her experience and life journey of mental health, now being 36, it is an important point to raise.

The point is that, while the end might not be in sight, life is not impossible.
