Named for an Aztec God, the Axolotl (pronounced ACK-suh-LAH-tuhl) is a Mexican walking fish that decided to never grow up. They retain their larval features throughout life and are found almost exclusively in the waters of the Xochimilco lake complex. Despite the adorable grin on their faces, these critically endangered creatures are currently facing extinction from pollution and urban sprawl.
