By 1906, there was already a gap of 50 years between South and Northern Nigeria in the matter of Education. In 1942-that is, eighty-one (81) years ago, Awolowo started the move for FREE and COMPULSORY EDUCATION throughout Nigeria.
Absolute free education is meant non-payment of fees by whatever name called, together with a free supply of textbooks to pupils and students. Only the Western Region (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, and Bende states), welcomed the program.
Today, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has a great opportunity to actualize Awolowo's dream all over Nigeria. Unfortunately, what Tinubu is offering is a "STUDENTS' LOAN."
