Awakening with Mother Earth: Hearing Gaia Sing

Awakening with Mother Earth - Hearing Gaia Sing By Fran Moeller Gatins Our Mother Earth wants our souls to sing. She asks us to move beyond fear and forgetfulness into the light of universal hope and love. So saith Fran Moeller Gatins, who invites us to share her personal odyssey during which Gaia, mother of the ancient gods whose spirit is the very soul of our planet , chooses the author to become one of her "voices" in order to teach humankind that ancient wisdom is not incompatible with the evolution of our physical forms, our sacred structures and the ultimate essence of what we perceive to be the creators of the ever-changing cosmos. This contemporary "bene gesserit" spent several years writing occasional "meditations" during travels in which she recorded her interactions with spirit guides as well as earth, wind, metal, fire and air before Gaia began the conversations in which she counseled that global shifts in paradigms do not necessarily consign humankind to obliteration if we retain a vibrant sense of openness to and respect for all manifestations of life past, present and future. Change is a constant even for the goddess. She asks us to maintain our equilibrium through prayer, gratitude and forgiveness while we destroy old patterns of domination engendered by fear and unwillingness to listen to the truth-tellers in the quiet within. Use this very conversational, well written and buoyant diary as a practical and poetic guide to living with the sacred in our everyday lives through a "spirit of curiosity, adventure and delight, even playfulness" as we join our Mother Earth in the hero's journey to awaken our relationship with the universe.

Finally a new voice in the world of our time in history and the fate of our world! this book gives us hope and tells us very carefully how to renew our planet and keep it safe from distruction. We must listen. I also enjoyed very creative way the book is designed and the "back and forth" dialog between the author and Gaia. The final chapter,Gracenotes, offers real ways to participate in "experiencing our planet in a different way" while we try to keep up with Gaia "as she evolves."
Hearing Gaia Sing Has Awakened Me

Fran Gatins' book, "Awakening With Mother Earth: Hearing Gaia Sing" was a wonderful, refreshing read. It made me stop and listen in my daily life to better hear what the Earth is telling us. The beautiful talk about the gift of dancing has me whirling through the house. What a great feeling! Thank you for this book.
Beautiful book of many strands

Reviewed by Louise Bickley for Reader Views (12/06) The author's main point is stated on page 189 when Gaia says, ". . . It is the main point I wish to have completely clear: that all beings contain elements and aspects of all other beings and all physical forms emanate from me. Therefore, you can speak with each other." In other words, Mother Earth or Gaia wants it known that she is a real live breathing entity of her own and is evolving along with all of her children. Her children include every bit of creation within her domain--inside, outside and above. I must admit that my first response to the premise of this book was skepticism; I thought it was preposterous. However as I read on it became more and more believable. I was struck by the author's own willingness to question the material coming through her. Ms. Gatins expresses her doubts over and over--wondering if this was authentic communication from Gaia or simply emanating from her imagination or subconscious mind. Gaia assures her over and over and, quite convincingly, I might add, that she is real and she is speaking. Finally by page 139 Gaia tells her to get over it--believe this communication is genuine. There are numerous books, films and treatises on the subject of ecology and environmentalism, but none as original and fresh as this book. The content is simple and complex, serious and whimsical, humorous and instructive. Ms. Gatins beautifully weaves together numerous strands--spiritual truths, laws of physics, the many results of abuse to our Mother Earth and places them into a spiritual and moral imperative that leaves no room for doubt. Gaia says that everything sings! Song and dance are expressions of the joy of life and one of the best ways to honor, bless and give thanks to the Creator of all. I absolutely love the last sentence--"THEY got up and started to cha-cha to the music of the stars." Perhaps it is because singing and dancing or two of my most favorite things in this world. In any case it resonated with my whole being. I would not change a thing in "Awakening with Mother Earth." My only recommendation is for Ms. Gatins to keep listening and reporting what she learns.
