Chumani's grandmother teaches her about the ways of indigenous planting and the importance of the seeds of their ancestors now that she is old enough to understand. The poem at the front of the book, Awaken Indigenous Seeds , was visualized first and that led to the writing of the story. The pages of the book follow the lines of the poem and are supported with relevant quotes by Indigenous People who are involved in ancient seed renewal. Six Seedkeeper projects are honored in this book to remind all of us that we continue to learn from our Indigenous brothers and sisters, as we watch in awe at the reawakening of Indigenous Seeds.
