It's 2018 and porn stars keep committing suicide to the same Frank Ocean song. AVERAGE-LOOKING PEOPLE chronicles how this phenomenon of "dying as a meme" results from a former NBA forward taking a sarcastic religion seriously-a religion born when an unremarkable man-child becomes an online community's object of worship for no particular reason. The religion mutates due to an organization that records every word citizens speak in a searchable database, a psychopathic granny who's sexually attracted to buildings, and an untimely Juggalo. Disparate events coalesce in a singularity of absurdity to capture the spirit of the 2010s.
