Every artist-whether a painter, musician, or writer-passes through a gloomy period before surfacing into sunshine. Even Pablo Picasso had his "blue period" before emerging in "rose period." My autumn poems aspire to go through a short winter before entering into "my poems of springtime," just like a spring that jumps from season to season.
