John Grant is a widower, antique and collectibles store owner, and editor of the local newspaper. Despite the painful loss of his wife Donna to pancreatic cancer, he has found a way to move forward as best he can. That way, namely, investing himself into the people and town of Orchard, North Carolina.

Orchard is a picturesque place, with wonderful people, special town celebrations, unique specialty stores, some of the best fly fishing in the southeast, and a welcoming spirit you won't soon forget.

One might think, however, that a small mountaintop town within the Blue Ridge Mountains would be a rather quiet, and perhaps even dull, place to live. Certainly, life travels at a different pace in Orchard than does life within the major cities in the state.
