Marion grows up in a time of peace but is fearful nonetheless, carrying the inheritance of war; a heritage of absent fathers and alienated mothers. she is guided in the task of discovering and managing her insecurities through allegorical stories. These arise mysteriously at first through visions and gradually become more concrete as she grows older. With the outbreak of a new war Marion suspects that she must employ her stories in the rescue of her dislocated grand-daughter. The allegories are stand-alone stories that comprise the first book of Autostoryography, and these find their places within Marion's biography, comprising the second book. The books can thus be read independently of one another or in tandem.
