Autopoesis

Autopoesis grounds the creation of ideas in discourse emergent from "another realm," yet guided by the individuated self in the act of free will. "Autopoiesis," a scientific concept developed in the twentieth century to describe self-organizing systems - from minerals to plants to animals - was transformed at the level of human subjectivity by Scott Von into "autopoesis" - the act of "writing oneself into existence" through language. Autopoesis serves as foundational example in itself of this groundbreaking act of literature as magic and manifestation beyond mere poetry, completing the "turning" toward a future form of "presocratic" non-dualism sought by Nietzsche, Heidegger, and others. It also fulfills the ends of psychoanalysis as a cure by means of the refinement of the symptom as "desiring production." While completing his Doctorate in Philosophy and Psychoanalysis, Scott Von entered into a process leading him to deconstruct the separation between Art and Science - between Body, Mind, and Spirit. What followed were eight years of wandering and experiential praxis including the four philosophical-poetic books that comprise the totality of Autopoesis. He subsequently merged this psychodynamic literary praxis with medicine, psychiatry, and pedagogy as transformational healing and evolution in the dialectic of the phenomenology of spirit.
