Auto-Emancipation ( Selbstemanzipation ) was written by Russian-Polish Jewish doctor and activist Leon Pinsker. Originally in German it was first published in 1882. It was translated into English by David Simon Blondheim and was published in 1906. This political pamphlet is considered a founding document of modern Jewish nationalism and Zionism. It discusses the origins of antisemitism, argues for Jewish self-rule, and the establishment of a national consciousness. It calls on Jewish leaders to come together and address the problems of statelessness and antisemitism.
