The death of her grandmother brings a turning point in the life of twenty-six year old Sarah Redfern, her inheritance provides her with the opportunity to make an uncharacteristic decision to cast caution to the wind and walk away from her structured life. Almost on a whim, she leaves her job in London, walks out of her tiring relationship and purchases a one-way train ticket to Brighton. It's the year of 1984, which unbeknown to all is destined to become a year that will change the lives of all Brighton's residents, and Sarah's efforts to build a new life become embroiled in political confusion as an IRA bomb explodes in the middle of the night. Thus, what begins as an enthusiastic venture to establish a simple independent life, evolves into a complicated and dramatic situation as a newly formed relationship is challenged by the events that follow an attack aimed at assassinating Britain's Prime Minister. All characters in this novel are fictional, they participate in a sensitive and romantic drama which is recommended for mature readers.
