Each gorgeous log home shown here was built with reclaimed timbers that were hand-hewn at least a century ago.\nThe homes vary from small to large, and cover layouts from "erected as found" to modern configurations. One thing they all have in common, though, is that they look the way log homes are supposed to look. Dove-tailed corners, weathered barn wood, antique heart pine, and ancient beams, logs, and posts were used abundantly in their construction.\nIf you\re hoping to build such a home for yourself, or expand your existing home with a log addition, this book will provide help and inspiration. Each of the 27 projects featured includes a floor plan perfect for today\s lifestyles, while maintaining the integrity of log home construction and preserving the great timbers that sheltered our forebearers.
If logs could talk there is no telling what sort of stories that they might tell about the folks that first used the logs featured in these incredible homes. You might say that this is the ultimate in "green" building because logs that were used in the construction of 100 plus year old houses are being recycled into modern day homes. The designs incorporated into these beautiful retreats give one the flavor of the early years of life on the frontier while utilizing energy efficient modern building techniques. Having seen a few examples of these "authentic" log homes, I would love to have one someday.
A Book For All Log Home Lovers

This is a beautifully photographed and illustrated Coffee Table book showing many of the wonderful "Antique Log Homes" built by Walden Log Homes. I have personal knowledge of several of these log homes and their owners, who are delighted with their unique homes in the mountains of NW Georgia. On a very personal level, our real estate office is constructed using 200 year old Walden Antique Logs that came from a barn and has places where the hair from the horse's tail is still stuck in the cracks of the logs. We constantly have folks stopping by to admire this unique structure and express a desire someday to have a home constructed using the Antique Logs.
