Auschwitz: Horror & Defiance

In this Narrative Art sculpture titled AUSCHWITZ: HORROR AND DEFIANCE, I have attempted to contrast the depths of human evil and the lofty heights of courage through a sculptural, dimensional interpretation. Of course, one can never fully interpret the depravity and odiousness of those who perpetrated unlimited torture and murder. Such evil machinations of the mind are beyond our comprehension. The loss to humankind of the invaluable individual and collective talent is incalculable. I chose, in this work, to contrast the malevolence of the perpetrators with the courage of the people who somehow survived the unendurable, and emerged victorious - the best of humankind - those who defied the nazi (3) regime and its collaborators. Evil can never eliminate the best in the human spirit.
