The vibe is "long ago and far away" as dad owns a bar that is the home base for midget wrestlers, the Dodgers are still in Brooklyn and losing the World Series to the Yankees, and a neighborhood event is gathering at the base of the town's water tower to see if Augie will jump or not. What separates this novella from others of this kind is a kid brother whose deep dreaming of a magic kingdom has real world implications. Augie is a small gem anyone who was ever a kid can enjoy.
