John Maynard had fished many times along the Florida Panhandle and the St. Marks Lighthouse and wanted to share its natural beauty with Abby Sinclair, who had never visited that part of Florida. They'd left the Albany Chronicle (GA) for a three-day getaway from the sometimes violent and tragic news stories they write about. But things didn't work out that way they'd planned. During their first day on the water they saved a Seminole man who had been shot in the head and was floating near the Aucilla River. Maynard and Sinclair are plunged into a deadly showdown with violent criminal gangs along the Gulf Coast. They turned to their new Seminole friend who uses the old ways to bring justice along the Panhandle. Aucilla Bones keeps the reader guessing until the end. Read as a series or standalone novels. What readers are saying about the series: Fire Eater has some excellent scenes of page-turning suspense and realistic characters that come to life on the page. Dead River is a compelling read you won't want to put down. His characters do come alive in dialogue and the story builds to a climax. While the geography peaked my interest, it was the story that captivated me to the end. Once again Bill Lightle writes a great mystery that keeps you wondering who did it and what is going to happen next. This is quick moving and has some unexpected twists, so it holds your interest. When I was reading Monkey Palace, I couldn't put it down, but I was also sorry when it ended.
