Attraction of Opposites

In the second half of the 1950s, there was a chance meeting between two teenagers in a play park that produced an instant mutual attraction.
Conventional wisdom would suggest that their romance would not last long, because they had virtually nothing in common. The most obvious difference was that he was tall for his age. and she was small. This difference reflected every other aspect of their upbringing and beliefs.
Over four years later, their romance was put to the test when he joined the military for adventure and to see the world. She had been raised by a paternal grandmother, with a strict Victorian attitude. She was raised settle down to be a wife, a mother and to keep house for her family.
A year after his enlistment, Donald Ross was posted two thousand miles away. Absence did not make their hearts grow fonder.
Eventually, both married other people and for over twelve years there had been no contact of any sort.
