refreshing insight

This book emphasized the fact that Jesus fully forgave Mary for her past life, and even wanted her to see how much He valued her, by appearing to her in the garden after He rose from the dead. Because of Him. she knew she was not trash, but a daughter of the King. Need an easy to read book that shows you how easy it is to be saved? Read this book. Just believe on our Lord Jesus Christ.

The value is in what it says about Jesus, not Mary Magdalene

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but because of my interest in the subject of Mary Magdalene I have to take exception with the poetic license the author uses. There is no Scriptural support for the idea that Mary Magdalene and Mary of Bethany were the same person, and there's no Scriptural support for the idea that Mary Magdalene was the woman who anointed Jesus with expensive oil / perfume just days before His crucifixion -- though it has been assumed by many people over the years. The author makes the assertion that these women are all the same person, it seems, so that he can use more examples and situations in his narrative and thereby make the book make more sense. That said, though, he does offer a decent formula for learning the Gospel. Each chapter begins with a sort of novelization of a Biblical story, adding in details as he would imagine them in that time 2000 years ago. He also adds in practical applications, some from his own (rather interesting) life. His writing style is easy to digest. The biggest value of the book is its emphasis on Jesus, who was, indeed, Mary Magdalene's focus, as well.

brings insight and enlightening

"Historical Fiction", the point of view from Mary M. as she might have seen Jesus; more than just a novel, and deeply rooted in Scripture. Powerful book, greatly deepens understanding of Christ and our relationship with Him; though God warns us not to add to His Scriptures, although this book borders on adding opinion in the name of fact, it does so lovingly and in a complimentary way; it enables the reader to identify with the persons who were physically present "at Jesus' feet". Well researched, ties together Scripture from all across the Bible, the conclusions it reaches are well founded in the Word of God: enlightening. Presents the Passion in a complete, eye witness type account, to include what emotions a viewer must have had. I cannot recommend highly enough to new believers, old believers, and the not-yet believer.

An incredible review of God's love

I highly recommend this book! Batchelor brings a unique approach of telling a story in Mary's life and then follows it up with a short Bible based study section where you can make an application to your life. I love this book and if you are interested in learning more about the love of Christ, I believe you will enjoy it too!
