This book can guide a complete novice into learning visual observing of our universe. It starts with good tips that you need on how to observe, followed by how to use binoculars and a telescope. Then how to see and learn what is on our moon with simple graphic maps. In the same simple and easy to understand way, it covers planets and other more distant objects. I have been observing the skies for around 50 years and I wish I had this book when I started. Unlike some modern books that show pictures that do not represent what you actually see, the writer tries to tell you what you should expect to see in your typical beginning telescope. It may have been written 40 years ago but I consider it a classic and very useful. Highly recommended.
