The story must be told

My husband was racing through Oregon's Christmas Bazaar when Teodor's wife, Louise, caught my attention. I'm so glad she did. I have just finished Astride 2 Worlds and am deeply moved by Teodor's story. As a young man Teodor pledges to survive the communist prisons to one day tell the truth about communism. His story has done that and so much more. His story will not sit on my bookshelf, but rather be passed to all I know. I was especially touched by Teodor's unwavering faith in God and his ability to see the purpose behind some of his greatest challenges. I am sorry I did not get to meet him personally. Do not pass Teodor Gherasim's book up!

well-written, engaging, and important!

I picked this book up at the Oregon State Fair, and was initially impressed by the intelligence that Teodor and his wife Louise eminated while speaking with them. The book is very articulate and honest. The subject matter, explaining in a microcosm the struggles of Eastern Europe in this century is important, as the history of so many others in Teodor's situation was never able to be told! And it treats modern struggles in the US. His grasp of civilization and humanity is poignant. Lovely and smart.
