Ashes No More: Releasing the residue....and Embracing the strength

Sometimes, we don't realize why we do things. I am a firm believer that we are the way that we are because of things that we either dealt with, or because of things that we chose not to deal with. Getting married, starting a family, being in ministry, and moving away from my family before the age of 21, caused me to mature faster than most young women. What I didn't realize was that I was still holding on to the ashes from my past. I saw my "new" life, as a new beginning. I just didn't know that I was carrying an urn filled with ashes from my past, and sporting it like an accessory to every outfit (situation) in my life. After many tears and countless struggles, I had to slowly learn that holding on to the abuse, isolation, and hurtful words was only making things worse.
