Luckily, I wasn't pulled over for speeding. I was only going 85 mph, but that's still too fast. It took me a while to find my way to the wing Zack was in. Apparently, an ambulance brought him in this morning."What happened?" I asked my father. "We don't know yet. They say he has several broken bones and is bruised up pretty badly," father explained. "He is conscious, but his jaw is messed up, so the doctors haven't been able to get much out of him."Zack motioned for a chalk board that was sitting beside the bed. I got it for him, and he wrote: It's okay. I love you. He used the chalk board to tell me what happened to him the best he could. He still couldn't move his arms too well, so he only wrote the key words down. I had to fill in the blanks on my own. It seems that he was staying at a cheap motel, and made friends with some guys. They pretended to like him, and told him that he should come back to their room to party. I didn't really think of Zack as a partier, but he was upset, so there's no telling how he might've behaved. I don't blame him for wanting to just have fun, and not think about anything serious for once. When he got into the room with the two guys, they blindfolded him and tied him up. They kicked and hit him while calling him names, like Queer and Faggot. The pain caused him to pass out. The housekeepers of the motel found him today, covered in blood and urine. I felt so bad for my brother. It's hard to believe that in this day and age, there are still so many intolerant people...people who would hate and kill someone because they are gay. If they only knew it wasn't a choice. They didn't make a conscious decision to be straight, so I don't know why they thing gay people did make that decision. I wanted to hug my brother but I was afraid I'd cause him even more pain. I settled for softly kissing him on the forehead, being careful not to touch the rest of his body.
