The world still pushed stereotypes about Black fathers.
The news still measured them wrong.
Social media still argued with false facts.
But Cervantes knew better.
Pop knew better.
McKenzie knew better.
Nia knew better.
Even Janelle knew better now.
And as the hood turned - as the world continued spinning, evolving, challenging - one truth stayed rooted:
Black fathers don't just show up.
They show love,
they show sacrifice,
they show resilience,
and they show legacy.
Cervantes stood on the porch looking out over his block, feeling Pop in the wind, hearing his voice in memory:
"Son, the best fathers ain't the loud ones.
They the ones still standing when everyone else sit down."
Cervantes smiled.
