"As Memories Ebb and Flow" is a collection of recollections and insight by Dr. Helen Mundy Witt, a life-long resident of the Lynchburg, Virginia, metropolitan area. Dr. Witt shares her experiences as a biracial child in the 1930s and the challenges and opportunities associated with being "different." She weaves through her recollections a sense of hope and hopefulness. She shares that while life has presented numerous challenges, she has overcome them all through her faith in God. She has spent her life nurturing and developing young people through her employment with Lynchburg City Schools and Hartman Tobacco Company; lay ministry through St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Peaceful Baptist Church, and Mt. Dr. Witt is an accomplished speaker and has been spotlighted in many newspapers, magazines and books. Dr. Witt is the first African-American graduate of Lynchburg College and serves as an "Ambassador" for them throughout the community.
