The Reverend Dr. Ira D. "Tuck" Hudgins faithfully preached The Gospel for nearly seventy-five-years. His memoirs describe his call to the ministry following his colorful early years growing up in Washington, D.C. between the World Wars. The first in his family to receive a high school diploma and university education, Rev. Hudgins was ordained in the Baptist denomination and served as an Army Chaplain in the closing days of WW II in the Philippines and in Japan during the Allied occupation. Committed to Christian service, Mr. Hudgins married, reared a family, and served as pastor to many congregations in his long career. The Preacher, as he was affectionately known, touched the lives and hearts of countless others throughout his remarkable journey of faith and commitment to family, church and community. Mr. Hudgins began writing his memoirs in the late 1980s to preserve his family's history for future generations of family members. He suspended work to write From Generation to Generation, a history of the Franklin Baptist Church. This book was left incomplete when Tuck passed away on April 28, 2009.
