This is a great book! I borrowed it from the library. I am reading it--not quite finished yet--but I am so excited by it I have to tell other people how good it is. This book touches on many topics on art-making, the art business, and being an artist in the real world. I especially like the parts the author discusses how it takes courage to be a representational artist amid the avant garde trend and follows one's own path. He said many artists are trying too hard to be different, and "innovate" and "change" just for the sake of change, which is so true. The book is published in 1980 but what he wrote is still highly relevant. Sometimes I feel he put in words exactly what I was thinking, but only a lot more clearly and accurately. Also the author's wit and intelligence shines through. I highly recommend this book.
