The dissertation "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Ethical Challenges: Principles and Mechanisms for Responsible Development" analyzes the ethical issues associated with the rise of AI and proposes a framework to ensure its development is respectful of human values. It highlights several major risks: algorithmic biases that can lead to discrimination; the opacity of systems, which limits understanding of automated decisions; potential privacy violations linked to the massive use of data; and difficulties in assigning responsibility in the event of errors or harm. To address these challenges, the thesis draws on five fundamental principles: respect for human dignity, justice and fairness, beneficence, non-maleficence, and accountability. It recommends the implementation of governance mechanisms such as algorithmic audits, ethical impact assessments, model transparency, and human oversight. The study concludes that a robust ethical and regulatory framework is essential to ensure that AI remains dedicated to the common good and the respect for fundamental rights.
