They sold the world a dream.
A house. A spouse. A system that works if you just work hard enough. They said the playing field was level. They said the contracts were fair. They said the fire was progress.
They lied.
Articles of Conflagration is a dispatch from the ashes. Written while the republic burned. Not from the outside. From the inside. While men traded women like currency and called it love. While the law became the only thing standing between girls and the men who wanted them. While the police became the military and the military became the police. While the country pretended it had conquered racism. While the billionaires fed on the poor and called it opportunity. While the dream that was never true finally stopped pretending.
The corruption has only shown us just how corrupt it has always been.
This is not a hopeful book.
It's an honest one.
The transactional relationships we call love. The youth we fetishize and the age we discard. The violence we mistake for passion. The poverty we call a moral failing. The systems we call broken, working exactly as designed. The freedom we worship and the cages we build. The fires we were told was progress.
It doesn't offer comfort. It offers clarity. It doesn't tell you that things will get better. It tells you why they're getting worse. It doesn't ask you to believe. It asks you to look.
The fall isn't coming.
It's here.
