Exploring Hong Kong Through 7-Eleven actually refers to a life-changing journey I embarked on a few years ago. Towards the end of 2007, I accomplished a 'feat': within two months, I 'visited' nearly all the 7-Eleven stores in Hong Kong-801 in total-while simultaneously raising close to HK$10,000 in donations for those in need. You can imagine, in a densely populated place like Hong Kong, 7-Eleven stores are practically on every corner. After this journey, I had more or less explored almost every part of Hong Kong. Although I did not spend much time at each store I 'visited, ' I often opted to walk instead of taking transport, to avoid missing other branches along the same route. This allowed me to savor every corner of Hong Kong during my journey. One could say that by traveling between various 7-Eleven stores, I managed to tour the entirety of Hong Kong. The phrase 'Exploring Hong Kong Through 7-Jai' might lead to some amusing or even crude interpretations, but what I mean is precisely this: exploring Hong Kong through '7 Jai' (a local nickname for 7-Eleven stores). For this reason, the travelogue I wrote is organized by districts, people, and events in Hong Kong rather than recording my journey in chronological order. Through this indirect exploration of Hong Kong, I hope to inspire interest in the people and things around us and deepen everyone's affection for this native land. Although Hong Kong is a tiny place, careful observation reveals many aspects worth savoring. I was fortunate, at a young age, to find some leisure time to gain an in-depth understanding of this Pearl of the Orient in a truly unique way. It turns out that Hong Kong's charm lies in its ability to attract tens of millions of visitors and passersby each year. This travelogue is merely a sharing of what I saw and experienced during this journey. I hope it brings you interest and resonates with you. Additionally, I hope it encourages everyone to better understand the place where they grew up and live. I believe this is something everyone should do.
