Jesse Louis Jackson Sr., born on October 8th, 1941, Greenville, South Carolina, U.S, is a civil rights activist, Baptist minister, and politician. Jackson was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination during 1984 then 1988, having served as a shadow U.S Senator for the District of Columbia from 1991 to 1997. Jesse is the founder of the organizations that merged to form Rainbow/PUSH (People United to Save Humanity). From 1992 to 2000 he was the host of Both Sides with Jesse Jackson on the CNN TV channel. Former U.S Representative Jesse Jackson Jr is his eldest son.
