Area 51 The Sphinx

By Robert Doherty

Book Overview

Dr. Lisa Duncan and Special Forces officer Mike Turcotte know better than anyone that no secret is safe for long-especially one that offers untold power. Case in point: no sooner does Turcotte's elite Area 51 team uncover a dormant alien ship in earth orbit than a group of alien-human hybrids seizes it and uses its technology to commandeer a satellite array bristling with nuclear missiles. Now they're demanding that humankind hand over the key to an ancient stash of alien technology...or watch an entire continent be reduced to atomic rubble.

Doom seems certain, as the required key is believed lost to the ages-until an unwitting anthropologist discovers the first of many clues to its hiding place. As Duncan and Turcotte race to reach the key-and the powerful treasure it can unlock-ahead of their alien foes, the quest leads them deep into a deadly maze within the Great Sphinx of Giza. The prize? Nothing less than the legendary Ark of the Covenant.

On the edge

This book, this series, keeps me on the edge. Love it. Wish it was published faster. To those who didn't the cliffhanger ending, well, duh, that's why it's a series. What's in the Ark? I want to know

Back on track

Great book - couldn't put it down. Much better than the Mission (the last book in the series). Area 51 is a wonderful sci-fi series. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here. I checked the author's web site - he's got at least 3 more books planned. I worry that he might string it along rather than stick to heart and soul of this great adventure. Mr. Doherty/Maguire/Dalton, etc, please be cautious to not dilute the action! For those of you who enjoy this sort of "alternate history" sci fi, check out Ian Douglas' Heritage Trilogy (Semper Mars, Luna Marine & forthcoming Europa Strike) - its very much in the same genre.

Area 51 The Sphinx- How can R. Doherty out do this one?

Robert D. has kept up the excitement in this edition. Lisa D., Mike T. and the Russian Yakov are still kept off guard. The Mission and the Ones Who Wait are always a step ahead. Lisa is becomiong more careless and Mike and Yakov are not watching their back very well. This book travels all over the globe and covers many of man's most intrigueing mysteries. In this book you learn the truth behind the Sphinx, but still new mysteries are unexplained. And what new danger has Mars in store for the Earthlings. I can't wait until the next book comes out.
