On the following pages you will be reading the story of my life, which may best be compared to a very long roller coaster ride. From an early age, my decisions and actions were governed by the tenets of Christian Fundamentalism as they were taught to me by my parents. I was taught that Jesus was always with me, watching my every move and judging my every action, and that, if I needed help, he would be there to guide and protect me. I learned that he had approved every word printed in Holy Scripture and that I could believe every promise made therein, and if I believed in his deity as the son of God and savior of all mankind, I could avoid spending eternity in a place of constant fire where I would suffer but never burn. It was comforting to know that he was my protector, healer, and master. I was in constant contact with Jesus through my thoughts and a one-way dialogue. For most of my life, I talked and prayed to Jesus either consciously or subconsciously. Every decision I made was in some form influenced by my religious teaching. My faith was blind and without question. Unfortunately, I concluded late in life that, as a Christian, my search for Jesus was in vain. My extensive prayers were never answered, and the contradictions in the Bible were too numerous for me to continue to believe that it was the "Word of God". To me, the God frequently described in the Bible does not seem to be a sovereign God but rather an entity created by man to dominate and control human beings through fear. In the end, and based on my experience, so called "organized religion" seems to be the greatest con ever imposed upon mankind.
