The book was torn to shreds!

When I ordered this book, it was advertised as being in good condition. However, when I received it, the pages were torn and every single pop up had been ripped off and were missing. There are even large holes in the middle of the pages and half of one page was totally missing, including half the text so you can't even read what it said. It is completely unacceptable to advertise it as being in good condition when it is in complete disrepair!

Good for toddlers too...

My three year old nephew loves this book. He guesses the different animals, repeats the refrain, and loves the pop-ups. Nice and short for bedtime and very sweet.

Wonderful, wonderful, heart-warming book

I have 4 kids, and have been reading them this book for about 9 years. It is very short, and very simple, but my kids just love the ending. It never fails to bring enormous smiles. It's a great, sit-down-and-cuddle-with-your-kid book. The best age I've found is the toddler years, but even my 5, 10 and 11 yo kids like to gather round when they see me reading it to our youngest. I've never been able to sit down, and read it just once in a sitting, rather it usually gets 4 or 5 reads in a row...they just never tire of it. I'm going to order a new one for my son's 2yo b-day. He got a hold of it a few months ago and tore the head off 2 animals while turning the pages. Despite that, it is still his most requested book. I'm going to get Are You My Daddy, too. We never read that one. Anyway, if you are looking for a sweet book to read with your toddler, you can't go wrong with this one.

The first book my baby loved

The story is so sweet it makes a new mom cry. The pop-up format catches the attention of babies (say about 5 months) who really aren't ready to ready yet, but need a gimmick to help them along. Right now we've had to put the book away, at 18 months, my baby is too rough to handle pop up books, but I have it saved for a second life when he grows older and begins to like it for the story as well as the pictures.Where and when are they coming out with "Are you my Daddy"? No one seems to carry it ?

Simple but well done; good for the under 2 crowd

This is a good pop up to engender warm fuzzy feelings. Baby chick looks for her mommy among the farm yard animals, and is not disappointed to find her at last. The pop ups are simple, not fanciful, but the book is very well done. The images are simple but recognizable, and this is a good pop up for infants and even pre-toddlers. Unlike many pop ups, this takes a basic story and delivers it well. Also unlike many in this genre, these pop ups are built to withstand a little tension, so the book may last longer than some others.

Great selection for a beginning reader!

Are You My Mommy? is a favorite of all the children that I work with as a speech-language therapist. They love the illustrations and the repetitive lines help them develop not only their reading skills, but their language skills as well. It is particularily a favorite among children and teachers of children who use assistive technology to communicate. It provides for them a great means to practice saying the phrase "are you" and "I am not." Over and over the children ask to read this book and always have a great time doing it. Plus, the pop-up feature is endearing to all the kids, especially the alligator with the jaws that open and close. In the child's imagination, my fingers have been chomped thousands of time! A great book all around.
