Are you better yet?: A Pocket Guide To Supporting Our Grieving Neighbors

Send the card. Make the call. Deliver the soup.

This little book is packed with practical ideas for how to support those who are experiencing a loss. The author, while asserting that death is "the ultimate loss" due to its finality, addresses other significant losses, as well. She encourages readers to have courage in acknowledging the losses of their neighbors, and she does this in a supportive way that is not overly intellectual or bogged down with jargon.

The book has a beautiful introduction written by Pastor Rebecca Shjerven, and endorsements by both a hospice chaplain and a therapist.

There are sweet illustrations throughout, adding character and lightness to a potentially difficult topic.

The author states that the book is intended to be read "in the amount of time it takes to drink a cup of coffee." But don't be fooled. While you may finish it at the same time you finish your Americano, you'll be thinking about it for days to come.
