After the social protests that took place between June and July 2013, Brazil saw a resurgence of political debate, which resulted in a proposal suggesting changes to the national political system, known as Political Reform. But what prior political knowledge did the population have about the proposed measures? How does this knowledge influence citizens' electoral behaviour? This study aims to discuss the issue of Brazilians' political knowledge based on a survey conducted by IBOPE, which reveals low levels of voter education on the proposed topic. With this reference, theories of political behaviour are presented for analysis of information strategies, followed by a study of political knowledge in the formation of the political culture of Brazilian voters. Authors such as CASTRO (1994) and BORBA (2005) are used as references for analysing the formation of Brazilian political culture based on the characteristics of our electorate.
