This is the first of four volumes of sketchbooks, kept by Quinlan Terry throughout his career to record the buildings he has encountered. He records their form and detail where noteworthy as source material. This series of sketchbooks covers the anonymous everyday architecture, frequently Georgian. Terry's travels in Italy will be represented in further volumes of a similar format delaying with Rome (Vol II) and Venice (Vol III). Volume IV will include other Italian studies as well as those from his 1993 visit to India.
