This is a report on archaeological and historical research concerning the J.P. Bodie site, a stoneware pottery in Greenwood County, SC. Prior to Bodie the site was owned by James Burnett, Washington Roundtree, and possibly, James A. Turner. A substantial percentage of the sherds recovered are slip decorated, suggesting the presence of Thomas M. Chandler at the site in the early 1840s. This is a preliminary report on an ongoing project.
