Esotericism is a term used to evoke secret and mysterious knowledge, but whose most authentic meaning is often ignored. It is a worldview that spread from the Nile to the Fertile Crescent, from the Indus to the Yellow River, thanks to neolithic agricultural civilizations without writing that left us with fundamental symbols and archetypes. Buddhism, Dao, Zoroastrianism and Judaism were steeped in it, and the Christ Myth was perhaps its most powerful reworking. In the West this ancient knowledge was reduced over time to occupy initiatory cultural niches such as Gnosis, Hermeticism and Alchemy. In medieval Europe it had a particularly successful moment, inspiring the thought of such outstanding figures as Dante and Giordano Bruno, and that of secret organizations such as the Rosicrucians, the Illuminati and Freemasonry. But in our modern collective culture, what remains today of that arcane memory?

Domenico Rosaci is a professor of Information Processing Systems at the University of Reggio Calabria, and his research mainly deals with Artificial Intelligence, a field in which he has authored some 200 scientific publications of international significance. He is also a scholar of ancient philosophy and Tradition, areas in which he has published numerous essays, as "The Tradition of Gods" and "The Awakeners". He is also a writer of novels and poetry.
