Interpreting Aquinas's theology of grace is no easy task and is heavily influenced by how his metaphysics is understood. This establishes what can be called the "new perspective" and attempts to correct the old perspective's reading, which is indebted to Cajetan and other Scholastic commentators. It then traces the development of Aquinas's thought on grace from the Scriptum super libros Sententiarum to the Summa theologiae . The concluding chapter offers a summary of Aquinas's thought on the created image of God, the recreated image, and the glorified image.
